Assessment

Finalizing your exchange

In order to pass the first semester of your third year at Industrial Design you need to pass all courses worth 25 ECTS. Make sure you receive a transcript of records* from your host university. If the host university is non-European, ask their Educational Office to make an official translation of their transcript of records. Non-European universities use a different credit system. If this official translation cannot be given, request a statement of your study load in hours. Your study load for a semester should be at least 700 hours.

Processing credits

Hand in the transcript of records from your host university at the Educational Office of the Department of Industrial Design at TU/e after finalizing the semester and receiving all the grades.  After receiving the document, your results/ECTS will be processed within the TU/e system. In the year planning (see Download page) the deadlines for handing in the results list from your host university are indicated as ‘TOR’.

*If the host University is non-European you also need to hand in an official translation of their Transcript of Records. They will have a different credit system than the European credit system.

Qualitative feedback

Usually, you will receive grades for your courses and projects during your exchange but we advise you to also collect evidence, write reflections and write a report. Ask for qualitative feedback from a coach or teachers at the host university and collect evidence of what you have developed.

Start collecting all these materials for updating your portfolio, since this exchange semester will be a vital part of your final Bachelor portfolio.

Retake

In order to pass the first semester of your third year at Industrial Design you need to pass all courses worth 25 ECTS. If you are un successful in receiving 25 ECTS during your exchange you will need to make up for the missing credits afterwards. The Examination Committee will decide whether you will be given this possibility and will also decide the form the assessment takes.

Portfolio

After the assessment, update your portfolio with all collected materials and feedback received and use this as a tool to discuss your progress with your teacher coach and create your personal development plan for your final bachelor project.
