Seminar

Seminar

A seminar is a small-scale course in which you as students have the most active role through presentations and plenary discussions. Its main aim is to prepare a student to do research in a certain area. We strongly advise to take a seminar from the research cluster in which you want to do your graduation project.

The specific focus and setup of the seminar differs per research cluster. All seminars have in common that students research, read, present and discuss recent literature in a specific area of expertise. The seminar may also involve a practical component. The seminars provide you with an overview of the current research topics in your chosen field. The seminar will teach you:

  • How to approach a specific research problem in your chosen area, with a focus on research questions, common techniques, and practically relevant use cases.
  • To independently study, present, discuss, compare, and criticize scientific texts.
  • To critically discuss and select common research methods and techniques for a chosen problem.
  • To conduct experiments, report your findings, and present and critically evaluate your results.
