New: Sustainable Events Policy

20 december 2023

We are excited to announce the implementation of our new Sustainable Events Policy, set to commence on January 1, 2024.

This policy embodies our commitment to creating events that are not only memorable but also socially responsible, environmentally friendly, and ethically sound.

Event Themes: A Blueprint for a Sustainable Future
Our Sustainable Events Policy revolves around seven key themes, each designed to foster a holistic approach to sustainability:

  1. Social sustainability and vitality
  2. Clean and green energy
  3. Smart and green mobility
  4. Circular and recycled resources
  5. Green environment
  6. Food and drink
  7. Water and sanitation

In the year 2024, we will particularly focus on themes 4 (Circular and recycled resources) and 6 (Food and drink) through a mix of mandatory and voluntary ambitious policy principles (more details about this on our website: https://tuenl.sharepoint.com/sites/intranet-facility-management-center/SitePages/request-event.aspx).

In order to successfully implement these changes and to incentivize event organizers to achieve our ambitious policy requirements, we encourage creativity and innovation in facing the new sustainability challenges. From next year on, organizers (TU/e students & staff) will be able to nominate their events for the title of the most sustainable TU/e event of the year, with the winner receiving a €500 voucher to enhance the sustainability of a future TU/e event.

As we embark on this journey toward sustainability, let us embrace the positive impact we can make collectively. TU/e, where innovation starts, is also where sustainable events thrive. Please know that we will be here to support you throughout the whole year in adjusting to the changes and are happy to help wherever we can, so do not hesitate to get in touch or check out the FAQs here: https://tuenl.sharepoint.com/sites/intranet-facility-management-center/SitePages/request-event.aspx!
