SFC31 - CBT Course (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

For whom?

This course is for students who have the tendency to anticipate the worst (rather than focus on the positive) and struggle with stressful thinking, anxiety, feeling down etc. This kind of thinking is limiting because it's likely to hold you back from reaching your goals. Additionally, this is probably going to leave you feeling sad and unfulfilled. 

If you are ready to identify and challenge any negative thinking (and behavioural) patterns and improve the way you feel and act, this course may be for you.

What's it all about?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. During the course, you will learn to analyze how your symptoms started, identify any distorted thinking patterns and replace them with more positive and rational ways of thinking. Once thoughts change, behaviour and feelings usually follow suit. You will also learn to analyze and change your behavioural patterns and bad habits.

Due to the nature of this style of therapy, you will be expected to take an active role throughout the course, with homework, learning and practicing new skills. This may include tracking changes in mood, thoughts and behaviour.

After the course, you will have a better understanding of how certain behaviour and thinking patterns may have developed. You will also have an increased awareness of some of your distorted thinking styles and bad habits and how to change them. It is expected that you will still need to continue to practice your newly learned skills, even after the course ended. This is to ensure the ability to integrate your new patterns and habits into your life.
