English Language Toolbox

The English Language Toolbox is a resource for learning and practicing English independently. It is essentially a list of internet links to specific websites that provide a variety of possibilities for exploring, learning, practicing and improving the (academic) English needed for studying and working at TU/e.

How to use the Toolbox

Just ask yourself what you would like to practice. Which skill: reading, listening, writing or speaking, and at what level would you like to practice that skill? Are you a starter at A1, or a more proficient learner at B1? The resources in the toolbox have been organized according to their Common European Framework Language Levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 or C2).

Most resources cover various levels. Grammar and vocabulary websites are also available, as are dictionaries and information on certain language exams (e.g. IELTS). Information on the purpose and type of each resource is also provided to help you find what you need.

If you have a specific item that you would like to practice, for instance presentations or pronunciation, you can use the Keyword List. Clicking on the keyword will take you to the specific website.

Should you come across any faulty links, or if you want to recommend a good link for the Toolbox, please email toolbox@tue.nl.

TU/e Terminology list

This list was created to provide clarity concerning the official names in Dutch and English for the most important bodies within the TU/e, the most frequently cited functions and most frequently used terminology. The aim of this terminology list is to provide a TU/e standard.
