Company NDA
In some cases, stakeholders from outside the university, companies, experts or scientific staff involved in the project will request may ask you to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). The purpose of the agreement is to protect their intellectual property.
It is important to remember that it is ultimately your decision to sign the document. In any case, you must discuss the contents of the agreement with the Internship Coordinator or with the Managing Director of the Department of Industrial Design before you sign the agreement.
The agreement should not interfere with the policies from the Department or TU/e. Be sure to sign only if you agree to the terms and conditions. As a student, it is also your responsibility to keep your mentor (or other staff involved in the project, such as the squad leader), the Coordinator of the Master Program, and the Internship Coordinator informed of your NDA. This ensures that all parties are aware of the terms of the NDA and can prepare Canvas for submitting your NDA deliverables.
Assessment
Examiner panel
If the NDA interferes with the work of one of the examiners, a new examiner panel may be requested (by the mentor) to CSA-ID. It is your responsibility as a student to inform your examiners of your NDA as soon as your examiner panel is communicated. This to prevent conflicts of interest in the panel of examiners and the ability and time to change examiners.
Deliverables
Relevant to the following projects:
- Final Master Project Proposal
- Preparation Final Master Project
- Final Master Project
When submitting your NDA work for any of the above projects, you will need an NDA assignment. It is your responsibility to inform the Coordinator of the Master Program as soon as possible, to make sure the assignment can be prepared on Canvas. It is your own responsibility to deliver your work to the correct assignment. OURIGINAL is not activated and therefore will not publish your work in the cloud for future reference.
In case of submitting your final master's project report, your report will only be archived but not published. In case of an embargo your work will not be published for a specified number of years. Please also indicate that the project is under NDA (or embargo) in the 'Delivery and graduation information form'.
Demo Day
Students with NDA can present their demonstrator to their examiners in a closed room. We can help you book a room; you can contact the Educational Secretariat for this. The "demonstration" can also take place in another place (company location) or at another time (before the Demo Day, on Wednesday or Thursday), but this can only be arranged with the agreement of the examiners.
Student NDA
If you want to protect your ideas when presenting your work to a stakeholder from outside the university, you can also use a non-disclosure agreement. If you are not sure if this applies to you, you can contact the Internship Coordinator or Managing Director of the Department of Industrial Design.
