Bachelor's Final Project

The Bachelor's Final Project (BEP) is the last course of the Major Sustainable Innovation. The course invites students to individually go through the entire research cycle for a specific socio-technical issue. This includes the articulation of clear research questions, a transparent and relevant research methodology, data collection and analysis, and the development of policy, strategy and/or research recommendations. Though students will have to perform individually, and will receive individual grades, multiple students can work and collaborate on the same issue in student teams. Student teams will be supervised by a Technology, Innovation & Society (TIS) or Philosophy&Ethics (PH&E) staff member.

Starting date

  • Semester A (quartiles 1 & 2)*
  • Semester B (quartiles 3 & 4)*

*The enrolment and the preparation phase takes place 1 quartile before. (students will receive an email about this)

BEP options

  • Individual BEP (0BEPS0)

The Final Project is a large individual project – an assessment of academic proficiency that also provides a rich learning experience. The project covers the whole research cycle: from question, approach, analysis, to conclusions and recommendations. You can build upon all the knowledge, theories and skills you acquired in your studies. Typically, students work on ‘messy’ problems: complex, multidisciplinary problems that involve multiple stakeholders and that show a link with sustainability

  • ISBEP (0ISBEP05)

During the BEP at innovation space, students will work on real-world open-ended problems from companies or the university. The students will participate in small teams of interdisciplinary students. Watch the video below for more information. Please keep in mind that not all ISBEP projects are suitable for all programs, so please check entry requirenents, more details and examples of ISBEP projects here. Innovation Space is looking for ambitious, entrepreneurial and solution-minded students, which also means that you have to articulate a short motivation to participate at the ISBEP.

More information on the entry requirements can be found in the Osiris Course Catalogue : Final Project Sustainable Innovation (0BEPS0) and Innovationspace Bachelor end project extension (0ISBEP05) . The Study Guide and the complete timeline can be found in Canvas.
