You need to start making arrangements for your internship well in advance, approximately three months. An internship at a company or abroad will need a longer preparation! Depending on where you would like to do an internship, you need to start planning 8 weeks till 3 months in advance. Check the ‘to do list’ before you want to start to take care of your time path, procedures and forms.

Discuss with your mentor how to find a suitable internship and make sure he/she agrees with your choice. Discuss also who from the section of your specialization will be the TU/e internship supervisor for either internal or external internships. Your TU/e internship supervisor will be responsible for specifying the main learning goals and assessing your achievements.

The procedure for finding a suitable internship differs per section. Some sections have a notice board presenting the available assignments. Other sections advise their students to pay a visit to each staff member to get an overview of the latest assignments.

In general, the internship is scheduled in the first quartile of your second year. Depending on your individual situation you can choose to perform your internship at a different time of the year.

You may start your internship when your program has been discussed with your mentor and approved by the examination committee.

If you want to receive 5 credits for an extended internship make sure this is included in your approved program before start of the internship.

You have to officially sign up for the start of your internship. Check the ‘to do list’ for all administrative requirements.
