Project description

You are going to design a sensor for the continuous monitoring of molecules in the skin. You will start by selecting a problem in healthcare and a corresponding molecule that needs to be measured in the skin. You are going to design a sensor that can continuously measure this molecule. The sensor will use reversible molecular affinity interactions, as this is a generalizable approach with large potential for the future. You are going to design a sensing concept and you will evaluate your design by developing a simulation model of the molecular processes in the biosensor. You will use the simulation model to study your sensing concept (e.g. sensitivity and response time) and you will compare the performance of the biosensor to the requirements of the intended health monitoring application.
