International experience

Experiencing cultural differences and working in an international team are increasingly important for a student’s personal development and career. Our department encourages students to explore their options for an international experience by offering the following three options:

  1. studying a semester abroad at one of our exchange partners (20-30 EC).
  2. doing a 15 EC academic research internship abroad.
  3. going abroad for a MSc thesis related project.

Study semester abroad

During your study semester abroad you can take courses and/or projects from one of our department’s official exchange partners. The semester study load required by our partners varies between 20-30 EC.

All information that you need is available in the handout “study semester abroad” and the “exchange partner survey”. You can find these PDF files in the downloads section at the bottom of this page.

If necessary, the available exchange places will be assigned by lot.

Students that like to go abroad for a study semester, should indicate their destination preferences in our Mobility Online tool.

Deadlines:

  • March 1 for exchanges in the autumn semester  (TU/e semester A)*
  • September 1 for exchanges in the spring semester (TU/e semester B)*

*) Important: if an uneven number of semester spots per academic year is available (e.g. 1 or 3) the deadline for indicating your preferences is March 1 for both semesters.

IMPORTANT:
Before indicating your exchange preferences in Mobility Online, you are required to carefully read the additional departmental instructions in the handout “study semester abroad”  available in the downloads section.

Research internship or graduation projects abroad

You can go abroad for a 15 EC research internship, or for a project as part of your graduation program.

All information that you need is available in the handout “internships abroad”. You can find this PDF file in the downloads section at the bottom of this page.
